Trade restrictions between India and Bangladesh

A new chapter of trade sanctions has opened between India and Bangladesh, leading to increased tension between the two countries.

According to a report, India has halted transit facilities for Bangladesh, which allowed the country to transfer its exports from Indian ports and airports to third countries.

Following this move, tensions between the two nations have escalated. India has justified the suspension of the transit facility by citing congestion at its ports and airports.

In response, Bangladesh has imposed a ban on the import of cotton yarn from India. This action was taken to protect local industries from cheap imported yarn.

Meanwhile, United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has commented on the growing tension between Pakistan and India, advising both countries to show restraint. He emphasised that war is not a solution to any problem.
