Trump supports Kristi Noem

US President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that Homeland Security chief Kristi Noem would remain in her job. This follows a backlash over a fatal shooting by federal immigration agents in Minneapolis.

The victim, 37-year-old nurse Alex Pretti, was killed while protesting immigration raids. Trump made his first on-camera comments since the incident on Saturday.

“No,” Trump told reporters when asked if Noem would step down. He added, “I think she’s doing a very good job.”

The New York Times reported Trump held nearly a two-hour meeting with Noem on Monday. Noem has supported aggressive immigration raids and called Pretti a “domestic terrorist.”

Trump also sent border czar Tom Homan to Minneapolis. Homan favors more targeted arrests of undocumented migrants over Noem’s large-scale raids.

The president said authorities are conducting a “big investigation” into the shooting. He promised to personally monitor the process and ensure it is honest and honorable.

Meanwhile, Pretti’s death has sparked debate over gun rights in the US. Some gun rights supporters have questioned the administration’s comments about the incident.
