U.S. and China sign long-awaited trade agreement

Author Avatar Web Desk | 2 weeks ago

Washington: The United States and China have finally reached a long-anticipated trade agreement, marking a major step toward ending the prolonged trade war between the two global economic powers.

President Donald Trump confirmed the signing during a ceremony at the White House but did not disclose further details. According to U.S. officials, the agreement is the outcome of recent negotiations held in Geneva and London, and has now been formalised as a “framework deal.”

China’s Ministry of Commerce also confirmed the agreement, stating that both sides have agreed to ease export controls, licencing procedures, and certain trade restrictions.

In recent months, the two countries have imposed reciprocal bans on the trade of critical items such as rare earth minerals, magnets, semiconductors, and other key components—disrupting global supply chains.

The deal is expected to ease trade tensions and bring much-needed stability to the global economy.
