U.S.-China trade war: Apple to make India its manufacturing hub

Author Avatar Web Desk | 3 months ago

New York/New Delhi: Due to the ongoing trade tensions between the U.S. and China, Apple has decided to shift the manufacturing of all iPhones sold in the U.S. to India by the end of 2026.

Currently, the majority of Apple’s iPhones are manufactured in China. However, with rising tariffs and import duties, the company has decided to reduce its dependence on China.

Apple’s partner companies, Foxconn and Tata Electronics, are already involved in manufacturing iPhones in India. By March 2025, nearly $2 billion worth of iPhones are expected to be exported from India to the U.S.

Apple aims to produce 6 million iPhones annually in India by 2026. This move is seen as a significant step toward diversifying Apple’s supply chain while also providing a major boost to India’s economy.

Notably, Apple began assembling iPhones in India in 2017 and is now moving towards making India its primary manufacturing hub.
