U.S. vetoes U.N. resolution calling for a ceasefire in Gaza

Author Avatar Web Desk | 5 months ago
The United States has vetoed a United Nations Security Council resolution that called for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza and unrestricted humanitarian aid access.

The resolution was introduced by Algeria with support from 10 non-permanent members, including Pakistan. Out of 15 Council members, 14 voted in favour of the resolution, but the U.S. veto blocked its adoption.

Meanwhile, Israeli airstrikes continue in Gaza, with over 45 Palestinians killed in the past 24 hours. A U.S.-based aid organisation has also suspended aid distribution, citing administrative issues, worsening the already dire humanitarian crisis.
