US Authorities Arrest Suspect in Shooting of Conservative Commentator Charlie Kirk

Washington, D.C. – U.S. authorities have apprehended a suspect in connection with the fatal shooting of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk, a close ally of President Donald Trump.

The suspect has been identified as 22-year-old Tyler Robinson. Following the arrest, law enforcement released an image of Robinson to the public. President Trump confirmed that the suspect is currently in police custody and was handed over by someone close to him. Trump also suggested that the suspect could face the death penalty.

Earlier, the FBI had shared CCTV footage showing the alleged attacker fleeing the scene by jumping from a rooftop after opening fire. According to officials, the suspect discarded a firearm and ammunition in a nearby wooded area, leaving behind footprints and handprints on the roof. The FBI had previously offered a $100,000 reward for information leading to the suspect’s capture.

Charlie Kirk, founder of the conservative organisation Turning Point USA, was shot while speaking at the University of Utah about gun control and crowd safety. Witnesses described the incident as sudden and shocking. Kirk, who had been closely associated with President Trump, was known for promoting conservative values in educational institutions through his organisation, founded in 2012.
