Washington, D.C.: The U.S. government has suspended Harvard University’s ability to admit international students, following an order from President Donald Trump’s administration.

According to official sources, Harvard’s certification under the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) has been revoked. This certification is essential for institutions to enrol non-U.S. students on student visas.

As a result, the university can no longer offer admission to new international students. Those currently enrolled may be required to transfer to other institutions or return to their home countries.

A letter from Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem informed the university of the decision, which is reportedly linked to an ongoing federal investigation involving Harvard. Specific details of the investigation have not been publicly disclosed.

This move comes amid increasing scrutiny of international students and visa programmes, with advocates expressing concern about the impact such policies could have on academic freedom and global educational exchange.
