Wafaqul Madaris Rejects Online Education, Supports Peaceful Movement

KARACHI: Wafaqul Madaris Al-Arabia held a meeting led by Chairman Mufti Taqi Usmani on Wednesday. The council decided that online education will not be accepted in affiliated seminaries. They emphasized that peaceful efforts are the only way to implement Islamic law in Pakistan. The body strongly opposed taking up arms in the name of Sharia against the state.
The council also announced that students who shave their beards will be disqualified from exams. Office bearers were directed not to share videos or photos of meetings and events. Reports were requested about the introduction of online education in seminaries. Wafaqul Madaris will prepare textbooks for primary, sixth, and seventh grades using guidance from other boards and institutions.
Rules for women’s seminaries will be revised soon, the council decided. Selected religious institutions will work with the State Bank to help eliminate interest-based systems. To improve exam standards, annual exams will now be conducted in two phases. These changes aim to enhance education quality in seminaries across the country.
The council urged authorities not to harass seminaries with unnecessary demands. It reaffirmed that scholars clearly oppose armed movements and violence. Mufti Taqi Usmani emphasized peaceful approaches as the only legitimate way to bring change. The body’s decisions reflect its commitment to education and peace.
Wafaqul Madaris remains focused on maintaining religious teachings and discipline. It seeks to balance tradition with necessary reforms. The council’s resolutions aim to strengthen seminaries and protect their independence. It also promotes cooperation with state institutions for social progress. These steps show the body’s dedication to peaceful religious education.
