WhatsApp New Feature

WhatsApp is working on a powerful new feature called ‘Quick Recaps,’ designed to help users catch up on unread messages across multiple chats more efficiently, according to the reliable tracking source WABetaInfo.

This upcoming tool builds upon the existing Message Summaries feature—currently limited to one conversation at a time—by allowing users to view summaries from up to five chats simultaneously.

How ‘Quick Recaps’ Will Work

As reported by WABetaInfo:

  • From the Chats page, users can choose up to five separate chats.
  • By tapping the three-dot menu in the top-right corner, they can choose the ‘Quick Recap’ option.
  • WhatsApp will then generate summaries of unread messages from those selected chats, helping users stay informed without scrolling through each conversation manually.

Privacy at the Core

The new feature leverages Meta’s Private Processing technology, meaning:

  • All summaries are generated directly on the user’s device.
  • End-to-end encryption remains intact.
  • Neither Meta, WhatsApp, nor any third party can access the content of the original messages or their summaries.

Why It Matters

With users frequently juggling multiple chats for work, family, and social purposes, Quick Recaps offers a streamlined messaging experience. The feature could be especially useful for busy professionals or users who return to their phones after extended periods of inactivity.
