ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad authorities have announced the winter break schedule for schools and educational institutions in the federal capital. According to a notification issued on Friday, all public and private schools in Islamabad will remain closed from December 21, 2024 (Saturday) until January 5, 2025.

The winter break is in line with announcements made by education departments in other provinces as well. In Punjab, winter holidays will commence on December 23, 2024, and schools will reopen on January 13, 2025. Educational institutions in Sindh will be closed from December 21 to December 31, 2024.

In Balochistan, schools have already started their winter break due to the ongoing cold weather conditions. The break began on December 16, 2024, and will continue in 20 districts, including Quetta. In these areas, educational institutions will remain closed until February 28, 2025, due to harsher winter conditions. However, parts of Balochistan with relatively milder weather will observe a shorter winter break, from January 1 to January 10, 2025.

The winter holidays are being observed as temperatures in many parts of the country continue to drop, with intermittent snowfall occurring in the northern hill stations. As winter settles across Pakistan, students in various regions are preparing for a well-deserved break.
