Women’s World Cup: Rain Ends Match, Pakistan Out of Semi-Final Race

In the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025, the match between Pakistan and England was called off due to rain, and as a result, the Pakistan women’s team is out of the semi-final race. This was a must-win game for Pakistan to stay in the tournament.
The match was played in Colombo, where Pakistan won the toss and chose to bowl first. The Pakistani bowlers performed brilliantly and reduced England to 78 for 7. However, rain interrupted the game and the match was shortened to 31 overs per side.

England managed to score 133 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in their 31 overs. Fatima Sana was the standout performer with 4 wickets for just 27 runs. Sadia Iqbal took 2 wickets, while Diana Baig and Rameen Shamim got one each.
Pakistan was given a target of 113 runs under the Duckworth-Lewis method. The team made a strong start, scoring 34 runs without losing a wicket in 6.4 overs. Unfortunately, rain returned and the match had to be called off without a result.

Due to the rain, the Pakistan women’s team is out of the semi-final race, and their hopes of a first win in the tournament were also washed away. With only one point from four matches, Pakistan now sits at the bottom of the points table and has three more matches left to play.
