World’s First Humanoid Robot Games Begin in Beijing with Global Participation

The world’s first Humanoid Robot Games officially began in Beijing, attracting global attention.
The opening ceremony featured robot races, football matches, and dance performances that entertained audiences. The event marked a major step in showcasing the power of robotics.
The competition runs from August 15 to August 17, featuring 280 teams from 16 countries. Participants include both universities and private organisations, making the event diverse and competitive. Beijing is once again positioning itself as a leader in robotics innovation.
In total, 26 categories are included in the games, covering sports, performances, and technical challenges. Across three days, 487 matches will take place. This variety reflects the rapid growth of robotics and artificial intelligence applications in different sectors.
Special challenges add more excitement to the competition. Robots will organise medicines, manage materials, and perform cleaning services, demonstrating real-world uses. These events highlight how robotics can transform industries and daily life.
Teams from the United States, Germany, Brazil, and other countries are participating, along with leading Chinese robotics companies Unitree and Fourier. Out of 280 teams, 192 represent universities and 88 represent private companies. Earlier this year, Beijing also hosted the world’s first humanoid robot marathon, reinforcing its commitment to technological leadership.
