He praised the people of the region for their historic contributions to Pakistan’s unity and progress. Zardari highlighted their role in guarding borders and promoting Pakistan’s flag to the world’s highest peaks.

He described Gilgit-Baltistan as the crown of Pakistan and a northern gateway, symbolizing enduring friendship with China. The president noted the Karakoram Highway as a living symbol of this partnership. He also emphasized that the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) has opened new avenues for trade, connectivity, and livelihoods in the region.

He affirmed Pakistan’s support for Kashmiris until they achieve freedom according to UN resolutions. Zardari highlighted the contrast between liberty in Gilgit-Baltistan and the repression faced by IIOJK residents.
