Islamabad – Pakistani astronomers have made a forecast regarding the sighting of the Zil Hajj moon, which determines the date of Eid al-Adha. According to renowned astronomer Dr Faheem Hashmi, the new moon is unlikely to be visible on May 27, 2025.

Dr Hashmi stated that on the evening of May 27, the moon will be only 11 hours old at sunset, making it nearly impossible to sight with the naked eye or even through telescopes.

However, he added that the moon is expected to be visible on May 28, as it will be over 35 hours old by sunset, which significantly increases the chances of sighting.

Based on this forecast, Eid al-Adha is expected to be celebrated on Saturday, June 7, 2025, in Pakistan.

It’s important to note that the official confirmation of the moon sighting will come from the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee.
