111 killed, including 53 children, in monsoon rains across Pakistan

Islamabad: At least 111 people, including 53 children, have lost their lives due to recent monsoon rains across Pakistan, with most fatalities caused by electrocution and collapsing structures.

According to official data covering the period from June 26 to July 14, Punjab was the hardest-hit province, reporting 44 deaths and 134 injuries. Of these, 27 people died due to collapsing houses, 8 drowned while bathing, 5 were struck by lightning, and 4 were electrocuted.

A spokesperson for the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) said that relief operations are ongoing in affected areas and urged the public to follow safety precautions during the monsoon season.
