Sugar Exported FY 2024–25
Islamabad (July 30, 2025) – The list of sugar mills that exported sugar during the fiscal year 2024–25 has been made public. From July 2024 to June 2025, Pakistan exported 749,000 tons of sugar, valued at $400 million, according to official documents.

A total of 67 sugar mills participated in the exports. The JDW Sugar Mills led the list with 73,900 tons exported. Tandlianwala Sugar Mills exported 41,412 tons, while Hamza Sugar Mills exported 32,486 tons. Thal Industries and Almoiz Industries each exported 29,000 tons.

According to the Sugar Mills Association, the sugar had an expiry date of August 2025. They said sugar can only be stored for two years. If the 750,000 tons had not been exported, it would have gone to waste. The association added that export quotas were based on production capacity, with no favoritism involved.

Sources confirmed that Haroon Akhtar was not part of the cabinet while involved in exports and was simply a sugar mill owner. The association also reported that 80% of sugar mills in Sindh are facing losses. Even former President Asif Ali Zardari’s family owns three mills that are now closed.

There are currently 13 sugar mills up for sale across the country, but no buyers have shown interest. Sources also clarified that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s sons did not receive any special export quota for their sugar mills.
