5.5 Magnitude Earthquake Hits Musakhel District

Balochistan — A 5.5 magnitude earthquake struck Musakhel district in Balochistan early Sunday morning, causing structural damage and leaving several people injured, according to the Seismological Centre.

The quake’s epicentre was located approximately 80 kilometres northwest of Dera Ghazi Khan, and tremors were felt across surrounding regions. The earthquake occurred at a shallow depth, intensifying its impact on nearby settlements.

In the Rārāsham area, two houses were reported to have collapsed, while five others sustained partial ddamage. Localofficials confirmed that three individuals suffered injuries and are currently receiving medical treatment.

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) stated that damage assessments are ongoing. Emergency relief and response teams have been dispatched to the affected areas to assist victims and evaluate the full extent of the destruction.

Residents in nearby areas reported panic during the tremors, but no major casualties have been confirmed so far. Authorities have urged citizens to remain cautious and follow official safety instructions in the aftermath of the quake.
