52 years since the passing of timeless songwriter Tanvir Naqvi

October 31 commemorates the 52nd death anniversary of the esteemed lyricist and poet Tanvir Naqvi. His real name was Syed Khurshid Ali, and he was born in Lahore in 1919.

Tanvir Naqvi wrote songs for over 200 films, including iconic pieces like “Aawaz De Kahan Hai” and “Rang Laayega Shaheedon Ka Lahu,” which remain beloved today and were immortalised by the legendary Noor Jehan. He also wrote famous Naats such as “Shah-e-Madina Yathrib Ke Wali” and “Jo Na Hota Tera Jamaal Hi,” which are still passionately recited and listened to.

Tanvir Naqvi passed away in 1972 in Lahore, yet his literary legacy endures, with his memory living on in people’s hearts through his poetry.
