The Supreme Court’s new judges’ oath-taking ceremony was rescheduled until Friday.

Today was set aside for the swearing-in ceremony of one acting judge and six permanent judges.

The notice for the new judges was delayed since it was released late at night by the Ministry of Law and Justice, which caused the ceremony to be postponed.

The appointment of new justices to the highest court in Pakistan was recently authorised by the Judicial Commission.

While Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb was appointed as the SC’s acting justice, Justices Hashim Kakar, Shafi Siddiqui, Salahuddin, Shakeel Ahmed, Aamer Farooq, and Ishtiaq Ibrahim were promoted to the Supreme Court.

In the meanwhile, the two-member bench led by Pakistan’s Chief Justice Yahya Afridi has suspended its cause list.

The matters that were initially planned for Bench One will now be heard by a bench presided over by Justice Mansoor Ali Shah.
