PFL announces Rs 1 million prize for struggling footballer Muhammad Riaz

The Pakistan Football League (PFL) has announced a prize of Rs 1 million for Muhammad Riaz, a former national footballer who represented Pakistan in the 2018 Asian Games.
Riaz’s struggles recently gained attention after it was revealed that he was forced to sell jalebis at a roadside stall due to financial hardships. Once a key player for the national team, he had to step away from football due to a lack of support and opportunities.
Recognizing his contributions to the sport, the PFL has stepped in to assist him. PFL Chairman Farhan Junejo emphasized the need to support overlooked talent, stating, “Muhammad Riaz is a prime example of the talented footballers in Pakistan who have been overlooked due to lack of opportunities. We are committed to supporting him and ensuring that his talent is recognized.”
Along with the financial assistance, the PFL has also offered Riaz a key role in the league and international training opportunities. This initiative is part of PFL’s broader effort to revive football in Pakistan and provide a platform for skilled players to excel.
