Record Number of Pakistani Doctors Secure US Residency Positions

In a remarkable achievement for Pakistan’s medical community, a record number of Pakistani doctors have secured residency positions in the United States within a single year — the highest in history.

According to the President of the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC), Dr Rizwan Taj, a total of 1,061 Pakistani doctors have successfully earned placements in the highly competitive US residency programme this year.

Calling it “a moment of immense pride” for Pakistan, Dr Taj praised the country’s medical education system, stating that its strong curriculum and rigorous standards had played a vital role in this success.

“These doctors have passed the challenging United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) and cleared competitive interviews and screening processes to secure their spots,” Dr Taj said while speaking to the media.
