Virat Kohli’s Restaurant One8 Commune Lands in Controversy Over Smoking Law Violation

Bengaluru – Indian cricket star Virat Kohli’s popular restaurant chain One8 Commune is once again making headlines — but this time, it’s not about the food or celebrity ownership. The Bengaluru branch is facing legal trouble after police filed an FIR for violating public health and anti-smoking laws.

On May 29, Bengaluru police conducted a routine inspection of the establishment and reportedly found blatant violations of the COTPA (Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act). The key issue: the restaurant had no designated smoking zone on its premises, which is a mandatory requirement under Indian law for public places.

A non-cognisable report (NCR) was initially filed; however, after securing court approval, a comprehensive First Information Report (FIR) was lodged. The FIR includes the names of the restaurant’s manager and staff, but it is important to note that Virat Kohli is not mentioned in the complaint.

So far, there has been no official response from Kohli or his team regarding the incident. However, the public and media are closely watching for a statement from the cricketer, given his direct association with the brand.
