Lahore: The Punjab government has imposed a complete ban on the sale, purchase, and use of vapes (electronic cigarettes) across the province. The decision was approved during a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.
The Chief Minister stated that the growing trend of vaping amongst young people poses serious health risks and must be urgently addressed. She directed district administrations to launch a strict crackdown on all vaping centres.
Maryam Nawaz emphasised that unregulated vaping is leading young people towards addiction, adversely affecting their mental and physical health.
According to a government spokesperson, the move aims to safeguard public health and protect the younger generation from harmful substances. All district officers have been instructed to enforce the ban strictly and take immediate action against violators.
Health experts have welcomed the decision, calling it a timely and positive step toward promoting a healthier lifestyle amongst young people.
