COAS Field Marshal Asim Munir Strengthens Pakistan-China Strategic Partnership During Official Visit

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) of Pakistan, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, concluded a high-profile official visit to China, reaffirming the enduring and strategic bond between the two nations.

During the visit, the COAS held key meetings with senior Chinese political and military leadership in Beijing, including Vice President Han Zheng and Foreign Minister Wang Yi. Discussions focused on regional and global developments, ongoing collaboration under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), and the importance of joint strategies to address emerging geopolitical challenges.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to sovereign equality, multilateral cooperation, and ensuring regional stability, with the Chinese leadership praising Pakistan’s armed forces for their stabilising role in South Asia.

On the military front, Field Marshal Munir engaged in comprehensive discussions with top commanders of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA), including General Zhang Youxia, Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission, and General Chen Hui, Political Commissar of the PLA Army. The COAS was accorded a guard of honour upon arrival at the PLA Army Headquarters, reflecting the historic military camaraderie between both countries.

The engagements emphasised enhanced counterterrorism cooperation, joint training, defence modernisation, and strategic interoperability. The Chinese military reaffirmed its full confidence in Pakistan’s defence capabilities and acknowledged Islamabad’s critical role in promoting peace and security in the region.

Field Marshal Asim Munir thanked the Chinese leadership for their continued support and reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to expanding military-to-military cooperation across all domains.
