Pakistan’s Dream of First Win Shattered by South Africa

In the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025, Pakistan’s dream of first win remained unfulfilled as the team lost to South Africa by 150 runs. This is Pakistan’s fourth defeat in the tournament.
The match was played in Colombo and was affected by rain. South Africa batted first and scored 312 runs for 9 wickets in the given 40 overs. Laura played a brilliant innings, scoring 90 runs. From Pakistan, Sadia Iqbal and Nashra Sandhu took 3 wickets each.

After the South African innings, rain returned and reduced Pakistan’s innings to just 20 overs. According to the DLS method, Pakistan was given a target of 234 runs in 20 overs.
Pakistan’s batting failed badly. In the 20 overs, the team could score only 83 runs for the loss of 7 wickets. South Africa won the match easily by a big margin of 150 runs.
