Australia sets new record
Australia achieved a historic milestone in T20 cricket by winning nine matches in a row. The latest victory came in the first match of the series against South Africa in Darwin. South Africa won the toss and chose to bowl first. Australia, batting first, scored 178 runs in 20 overs before losing all wickets.

Australia’s top order failed to deliver early on. Mitchell Marsh scored 13, Travis Head made 2, and Josh Inglis was dismissed without scoring. Cameron Green, batting at number four, added 35 runs. He and Tim David built a 40-run partnership for the fourth wicket, stabilising the innings.

However, the team was struggling at 75 for six. Tim David then played a match-defining knock, scoring 83 runs off 52 balls. He shared a crucial 59-run stand with Ben Dwarshuis. This partnership lifted Australia to a competitive total despite the early collapse.

South Africa’s fielding was below standard, dropping four simple catches. One of those missed catches gave Tim David a second chance at 56 runs. Young bowler Kwena Maphaka took four wickets and set a personal record. However, his performance was not enough to secure victory for his team.

In the chase, South Africa started well with Ryan Rickelton scoring 71 runs. He and Tristan Stubbs put together a 72-run stand. But the momentum shifted when Josh Hazlewood and Adam Zampa delivered exceptional bowling spells. Hazlewood and Ben Dwarshuis each claimed three wickets, dismantling the middle order.
