ISLAMABAD: The government has decided to relocate the Federal Constabulary (FC) Headquarters from Peshawar to Islamabad. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi led a meeting at the Capital Development Authority (CDA) Headquarters to review the move. The meeting also included Minister of State for Interior, Talal Chaudhry, and senior government officials.

During the meeting, Naqvi directed officials to identify suitable land in Islamabad for the new headquarters. He emphasized that the land should cater to both the headquarters and training facilities. Naqvi also called for a comprehensive master plan for the site. The goal is to modernize the Federal Constabulary and make it a more effective force.

The decision comes after President Asif Ali Zardari issued the Frontier Constabulary (Reorganization) Ordinance, 2025. The ordinance restructured the Frontier Constabulary into a nationwide force called the Federal Constabulary. This change expands the FC’s jurisdiction beyond Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to all four provinces, Islamabad, Azad Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan.

Under the new ordinance, the Federal Constabulary will have two main divisions: the Security Division and the Federal Reserve Division. The Security Division will consist of existing FC personnel, while the Federal Reserve Division will handle anti-riot and special protection tasks. The force will be led by an Inspector General, with each division headed by a Deputy Inspector General.

This move marks a significant shift in the role and capabilities of the Federal Constabulary. It aims to enhance law enforcement, internal security, and counterterrorism operations across the country. The federal government will also have the authority to recruit additional personnel to maintain law and order.
