Actor Mohammad Ahmed Reveals He Couldn’t Attend Brother’s Funeral Due to Film Shoot

Karachi: Veteran Pakistani actor Mohammad Ahmed has revealed that he was unable to attend his brother’s funeral because of a tight shooting schedule during the filming of Cake.
Speaking on a recent morning show, Ahmed shared that he received the heartbreaking news of his brother’s death while shooting a comedy scene alongside actresses Aamina Sheikh and Sanam Saeed. “I was in shock reading the message, and at the same time, the director was calling for action. I couldn’t understand what was happening,” he recalled.
He said director Asim Abbasi noticed his condition and offered to pause filming, but he decided to continue. “I still don’t remember how I managed to complete that scene,” Ahmed admitted.
The actor added that although he managed to attend his brother’s soyam (third-day prayer gathering), he couldn’t stay long as he had to return to the film set. His brother lived in Islamabad, while Ahmed resides in Karachi. “The loss was devastating, and it is something I still cannot forget,” he said.
Ahmed also spoke light-heartedly about how most of his drama characters end up dying. “I often ask the director in which episode I’ll have to die this time. They usually reply that I perform death scenes very convincingly, and besides, those episodes always get the highest ratings.”
