Government Decides to Introduce New Currency Notes in Pakistan

The government has decided to introduce new currency notes in Pakistan, and a special committee has been formed to review and finalize their design. The decision was taken during a federal cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, where the aim was to modernize banknotes according to current needs and improve security features.

According to the official statement, the Ministry of Finance briefed the cabinet on plans related to the redesign of banknotes issued by the State Bank of Pakistan. After the briefing, the federal cabinet approved the formation of a cabinet committee to carefully review and suggest improvements to the proposed designs.

During the briefing, it was explained that the new banknotes are being designed in line with modern international standards. For this purpose, services of international experts have been hired to ensure that the designs meet global best practices in both appearance and security.

The cabinet was informed that new designs will be introduced for Rs 100, Rs 500, Rs 1,000, and Rs 5,000 banknotes. These notes will include improved security threads to help prevent counterfeiting. The designs will also reflect Pakistan’s regional diversity, geography, and important historical landmarks.

It was further shared that the designs will highlight women’s role in national development and include important social themes such as climate change. Through these changes, the government aims to present new currency notes that are secure, modern, and representative of Pakistan’s identity.
