Deadly landslide in Indonesia leaves seven dead, 82 missing

A landslide in Indonesia’s West Java province has killed seven people and left 82 others missing, authorities said Saturday.
The disaster struck a village in the West Bandung region, local officials confirmed, causing widespread damage and panic among residents.
Abdul Muhari, spokesperson for Indonesia’s disaster mitigation agency, said authorities were working to optimize search and rescue operations.
He added that the high number of missing persons made rescue efforts urgent, and teams were coordinating with local authorities.

The landslide followed heavy rains in the area, which weather officials had predicted could last a week starting Friday.
Kompas.com reported that the extreme weather warning was issued by Indonesia’s weather agency, urging residents to remain vigilant.
Authorities continue to monitor the region and conduct rescue operations, while local communities face disruption due to mudslides and flooding.
