Karachi road closures

KARACHI – Authorities in Karachi have closed major roads as a precautionary measure ahead of possible protests. The closures follow the assassination of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in U.S.-Iran airstrikes. Officials said the aim is to maintain public safety and prevent traffic congestion. Commuters were advised to follow alternative routes and stay updated on traffic alerts.

Traffic police reported that roads from Sultanabad Traffic Section toward Mai Kolachi are fully blocked. Similarly, MT Khan Road leading to Jinnah Bridge is closed. The road from PIDC to Jinnah Bridge has also been shut. Vehicles coming from these areas are being redirected to prevent jams. The closures affect both incoming and outgoing traffic.

Officials said vehicles arriving from Jinnah Bridge are diverted toward I.I. Chundrigar Road. Cars from Boat Basin are sent back at Mai Kolachi Phatak. Additionally, traffic from PIDC is being returned from Park Cut. These measures aim to avoid congestion and maintain law and order. Drivers were urged to follow traffic police instructions.

Vehicles heading toward FTC are redirected via Gorakhpur cemetery toward Saddar. Authorities emphasized that these measures are temporary but necessary for public safety. They also urged citizens to remain calm.

Officials asked commuters to plan their travel and use alternative routes. Traffic police are monitoring all affected areas continuously. Authorities said law enforcement personnel are ready to respond to emergencies. Citizens were reminded to cooperate and avoid unnecessary travel in blocked zones. The preventive measures aim to ensure safety during potential unrest.
