Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed condolences over the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. He also mourned the deaths of family members, senior military officials, and civilians killed in recent US-Israeli attacks. Putin emphasized the loss of life as deeply sorrowful and unacceptable.

During a phone call with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Putin urged an immediate end to hostilities in the Middle East. He stressed that conflicts must be resolved through dialogue, diplomacy, and political solutions instead of military escalation. The Russian president called for the abandonment of force in addressing Iran-related issues.

Putin reaffirmed Russia’s support for Iran’s sovereignty, independence, and freedom. He highlighted that regional stability can only be achieved through peaceful engagement and respect for national sovereignty. The Kremlin noted that Russia maintains active communication with Gulf Cooperation Council countries amid rising tensions.

Iranian President Pezeshkian thanked Russia for its solidarity and support during the crisis. He briefed Putin on ongoing military developments and emphasized the importance of defending Iran’s sovereignty. Both leaders agreed to maintain continuous coordination and consultations as the situation evolves.

The conflict in the Middle East escalated after US and Israeli attacks on Iran, reportedly killing hundreds, including the Supreme Leader. In retaliation, Iran launched missile and drone attacks targeting Israel and countries hosting US military assets, raising fears of a broader regional war.
