FIA Arrests 5 in Connection with Greece Boat Tragedy

ISLAMABAD – The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested five individuals, including a notorious human trafficker, in connection with the tragic boat incident off the coast of Greece. The arrests were made during operations carried out in multiple cities, including Gujrat, Gujranwala, Sialkot, and Mandi Bahauddin.
According to FIA Director Abdul Qadir Qamar, one of the detained suspects, Abdul Majeed, allegedly received 4.2 million rupees from a citizen named Fahad, with the promise of smuggling him into Greece. Fahad has been reported missing since the ill-fated boat tragedy.
The arrested suspects are believed to have been involved in a larger human trafficking network, deceiving individuals and extorting large sums of money in exchange for illegal passage to foreign countries.
This operation follows an investigation into the Greece boat tragedy, which recently revealed the involvement of 31 FIA officials in facilitating human trafficking activities. The investigation committee has recommended placing the names of these officials, including inspectors, sub-inspectors, and constables, on the Passport Control List (PCL) to prevent them from leaving the country.
