Ishaq Dar visit China for key diplomatic talks

Ishaq Dar is set to visit China on March 31 following an invitation from Wang Yi, as part of ongoing diplomatic engagement between the two countries.
According to the Foreign Office of Pakistan, the visit reflects the strong and longstanding partnership between Pakistan and China, often described as an “all-weather strategic cooperative relationship.” Officials say the trip will provide an opportunity for both sides to exchange views on regional developments, bilateral cooperation, and key global issues.
Despite recently sustaining a minor shoulder injury, Dar chose to proceed with the visit, underlining the importance Islamabad places on its ties with Beijing. The two foreign ministers had already held a phone conversation days earlier, discussing the evolving situation in the Middle East and broader international concerns.
During the call, Wang Yi acknowledged that initiating peace efforts in the conflict involving Iran presents significant challenges, but emphasized that dialogue remains essential for restoring stability, including ensuring safe navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.
Both sides agreed to support a ceasefire, encourage diplomatic negotiations, and safeguard critical infrastructure and non-military areas. China also expressed support for Pakistan’s role in facilitating dialogue amid rising tensions.
Pakistan has been actively engaging with multiple regional partners, including Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, and Egypt, in efforts to ease tensions and promote communication between the United States and Iran. Officials indicate that indirect exchanges between Washington and Tehran are ongoing through structured channels.
The upcoming visit is expected to further strengthen coordination between Pakistan and China while reinforcing diplomatic initiatives aimed at regional stability.
