PM Shehbaz Sharif directs the appointment of skilled personnel to appellate tribunals for the timely resolution of FBR cases

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday issued instructions to relevant authorities to appoint skilled personnel to appellate tribunals in order to ensure the swift resolution of court cases related to the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) collection.
In a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office, it was revealed that PM Shehbaz Sharif emphasized the need to clear the backlog of cases and warned against any delays in addressing the issue during a meeting to review matters concerning the appellate tribunals.
The PM Shehbaz Sharif also proposed the hiring of highly skilled lawyers in revenue-related cases, with competitive salaries and benefits that reflect their professional expertise.
PM Shehbaz further highlighted that the government is working on FBR reforms, including the implementation of a faceless customs assessment system at Karachi Port, aimed at reducing corruption and drastically shortening clearance times.
The PM Shehbaz Sharif reiterated the government’s commitment to bringing tax evaders into the tax net to alleviate the burden on the underprivileged sections of society. He also instructed that the reforms in Inland Appellate Tribunals be completed within the prescribed timeframe.
The meeting was attended by Federal Economic Affairs Minister Ahad Khan Cheema, Minister of State for Finance Ali Pervaiz Malik, Attorney General of Pakistan, and other relevant senior officials.
