Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has approved the decision to allow spectators to attend the final of the 11th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) at the stadium, restoring in-person attendance for the high-profile match.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi announced the development through a statement on social media, saying he had personally requested the Prime Minister to permit fans to return to the stadium for the final. He added that the Prime Minister also supported the idea, noting that franchise owners had also made similar appeals.

According to Naqvi, the decision reflects a shared understanding that cricket fans should be given access to watch the final live from the stadium, especially for such a major national sporting event. He thanked the Prime Minister for approving the request and appreciated his support for the Pakistan Super League.

He also mentioned that the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of maintaining austerity measures alongside facilitating public engagement. The government has already launched a nationwide austerity campaign in response to broader economic challenges, including rising energy costs and regional instability linked to geopolitical tensions.

The approval comes as Pakistan continues to balance economic pressures with public interest activities, including major sporting events. Officials believe that allowing fans into the stadium will not only enhance the atmosphere of the PSL final but also support the spirit of the game and boost national morale.

The PSL, one of Pakistan’s most popular sporting leagues, attracts large crowds and global attention, and the final is traditionally considered a major event in the country’s sporting calendar.
