Pakistan on Tuesday strongly rejected a report by CBS News claiming that Iranian military aircraft were stationed at Nur Khan Airbase to protect them from possible American strikes, calling the allegations “misleading and sensationalised.”

In an official statement, the Foreign Office Pakistan clarified that the presence of Iranian aircraft in the country was linked to diplomatic engagements and peace efforts involving Iran and the United States after the ceasefire announced earlier this year.

According to the Foreign Office spokesperson, aircraft from both Iran and the United States arrived in Pakistan following the ceasefire and during the initial round of the “Islamabad Talks” to facilitate transportation for diplomatic personnel, security teams, and administrative staff involved in negotiations.

The statement added that some aircraft and support teams remained temporarily in Pakistan in anticipation of future diplomatic engagements, although formal negotiations have not yet resumed.

The clarification followed a CBS News report citing unnamed US officials who alleged that Pakistan had quietly permitted Iranian military aircraft, including an RC-130 reconnaissance aircraft, to park at Nur Khan Airbase near Rawalpindi shortly after President Donald Trump announced a ceasefire in April.

The report claimed the move was intended to shield Iranian aviation assets from potential US airstrikes during heightened Middle East tensions.

Rejecting the allegations, Pakistan stated that the aircraft had “no linkage whatsoever to any military contingency or preservation arrangement” and described suggestions otherwise as speculative and detached from factual context.

Islamabad reiterated that it has acted as an impartial facilitator in diplomatic efforts aimed at easing tensions between Tehran and Washington. Officials also emphasized Pakistan’s continued commitment to promoting dialogue, regional stability, and peaceful conflict resolution through diplomatic channels.
