Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) made history today with the first-ever commercial flight landing at the newly constructed Gwadar International Airport, weeks after European regulators lifted a four-year ban on its flight operations.

Flight PK-503 departed from Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport at 9:50 AM and touched down in Gwadar at 11:15 AM. To mark the historic occasion, the flight was greeted with a traditional water cannon salute upon arrival.

The inaugural flight carried a mix of passengers, along with high-ranking officials from Pakistan’s aviation division, who were onboard to witness the landmark event.

The ceremony at the airport was attended by Defence and Aviation Minister Khawaja Asif, along with Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti, who welcomed the passengers and celebrated the milestone. The opening of the Gwadar International Airport and the resumption of flight operations signal a major development in regional connectivity, boosting the city’s growing role as a hub for commerce and tourism.
