PPP has been struggling for workers’ rights for three generations: Bilawal Bhutto Zardari

Chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, highlighted the party’s long-standing commitment to the labour force, stating that the PPP has been fighting for the rights of workers for three generations. Speaking at a workers’ event, Bilawal emphasised that the party, in collaboration with the working class, gave Pakistan its constitution.
“Whenever PPP has had the opportunity, it has always prioritised workers and labourers,” said Bilawal. He paid tribute to his late mother, Shaheed Benazir Bhutto, for her efforts to uplift the working class, noting her tireless struggle alongside the workers.
Bilawal also acknowledged that PPP’s founder, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, introduced the country’s first labour policy and gave workers their rightful benefits. “For the first time, the working class in Pakistan was granted their rights under the leadership of the PPP,” he added.
The PPP chairman stated that the party has consistently worked to improve the lives of workers, including raising wages and pensions in Sindh whenever the party was in power. He also mentioned that when PPP held power at the federal level, the benefits and privileges for labourers were significantly increased.
“PPP is the only party that increased salaries and allowances for foreign office workers,” Bilawal said. He further emphasised the need for wages, pensions, and other benefits to be increased to combat inflation and improve the living standards of the working class.
Speaking about government policies, Bilawal pointed out that policies should reflect the wishes and aspirations of the people. “There is no system in the world where a government can function without the will of the people,” he said, stressing that decisions made without consensus lead to instability and problems.
