Maryam Nawaz launches Pakistan’s first electric bus service in Lahore

According to sources, Maryam Nawaz Sharif inaugurated the electric bus service in Lahore, marking the first of its kind in Pakistan’s history. She took a ride on the electric bus and conducted a detailed inspection. During the event, Transport Minister Bilal Akbar provided a comprehensive briefing about the modern bus, which is equipped with a GPS location recorder, Wi-Fi, USB ports, and other facilities.
For the electric buses, nine dedicated charging stations have been established. These buses will have a range of up to 205 kilometers. For the convenience of passengers, a route display will be visible on the bus, and there will be separate sections for men and women. The buses will also be fitted with cameras for safety.
A total of 27 electric buses will operate on a 21-kilometer route, starting from the Railway Station to Green Town via Queens Road, Mazang, Ferozepur Road, Campus Bridge, and Achhra Canal. This service will allow 17,000 passengers to travel daily.
The official launch of the EV bus service will take place in mid-February. A special app will also be introduced for passengers to purchase tickets, and travel cards will be issued. Approximately 70 drivers will be required for the service, who will undergo specialized training.
