Spinner Abrar Ahmed produced his career-best figures as Pakistan bowled out South Africa for just 143 in Faisalabad. The series decider saw South Africa’s decision to bat first backfire, as they were dismissed in 37.5 overs. Abrar’s brilliant bowling kept the opposition under pressure throughout the innings.
South Africa started well, with Lhuandre Pretorius and Quinton de Kock putting on 72 runs for the first wicket. Pretorius scored 39 off 45 balls with four boundaries and a six before falling to Salman Ali Agha. Despite the solid start, Pakistan’s bowlers maintained tight control over the match.
De Kock held one end and briefly partnered with Tony de Zorzi and captain Breetzke. Mohammad Nawaz eventually removed de Kock in the 25th over. De Kock’s well-made 53 included six fours and a six, but Pakistan’s spinners dominated the rest of the innings.
After de Kock’s dismissal, South Africa collapsed, losing eight wickets for just 37 runs. Only Breetzke and Nqabayomzi Peter reached double figures, scoring 16 each. Abrar Ahmed’s sharp turn and variations proved too difficult for the South African batters.
Abrar took four wickets for 27 runs in his 10 overs, supported by Mohammad Nawaz, Salman Ali Agha, and Shaheen Shah Afridi, each picking up two wickets. Pakistan’s collective spin effort ensured a decisive victory and gave the home side a strong finish in the series decider.
