Afghan refugees must return to their homeland, says Khawaja Asif

Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif said that Afghan refugees must return to their homeland after staying in the country for over 50 years. He explained that their long stay is now affecting Pakistan’s economy and that it’s time for them to go back.
In a post on social media platform X, Khawaja Asif stated that Afghan refugees have taken control of many economic sectors in Pakistan. From bakeries and transport to construction work and contracts, these areas should benefit local people, not outsiders.

He added that, like other countries, Pakistan should also have a secure border. The Pakistan-Afghanistan border must be controlled so no one can cross it without permission. A proper system is needed to stop illegal entry.
Earlier, he reacted strongly to cross-border attacks by Afghan forces. He said that both sides must respect the border, or Pakistan will have to respond firmly. Clear rules and mutual respect are necessary for peace.
