ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Planning and Development, Ahsan Iqbal, commended the recently announced scheme aimed at supporting minorities in Punjab, calling it a significant step towards ensuring their welfare. Iqbal made these remarks on Saturday during a ceremony held in his ancestral constituency.

The minister expressed his appreciation for Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, who launched the minority card initiative, which he described as a pivotal development for minority communities in the province. Iqbal stressed that the scheme would empower marginalized groups and help integrate them into the mainstream of society.

While addressing the audience, Iqbal also took the opportunity to highlight the PML-N government’s efforts in addressing terrorism in the country. He stated that under PML-N’s leadership, significant progress was made in countering terrorism, which helped eliminate this grave issue and restore stability.

Iqbal further criticized the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government for its economic performance, blaming former Prime Minister Imran Khan for the significant damage to the economy during his tenure. According to Iqbal, Khan’s leadership and “incapability” served as major obstacles to Pakistan’s progress.

The minister went on to praise the leadership of Shehbaz Sharif, acknowledging his efforts in saving Pakistan’s economy from the brink of default. Iqbal emphasized that Shehbaz Sharif’s decisive actions were critical, even when the political future of the PML-N was at risk.
