Islamabad: An earthquake measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale struck Islamabad and various cities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) on Wednesday, as reported by ARY News. The National Seismic Monitoring Centre (NSMC) confirmed that tremors were felt across multiple areas, including Swat, Malakand, Charsadda, Mansehra, Swabi, Mardan, Peshawar, Chitral, Upper Dir, Khyber, Landi Kotal, Jamrud, Tirah, and Buner.

According to the NSMC, the earthquake originated from the Hindukush mountain range in Afghanistan at 220 kilometres. The tremors caused people to rush out of buildings in fear, with many reciting prayers.

Fortunately, no casualties or property damage have been reported following the quake. Earlier, a smaller earthquake measuring 4.7 had also impacted Swat and surrounding areas.
