Trump warns Apple of 25% tariff if iPhones are made outside the U.S.

Former U.S. President Donald Trump has warned Apple that it could face a 25% tariff if the company continues to manufacture iPhones outside the United States.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said he had previously informed Apple CEO Tim Cook that iPhones sold in America should be made on U.S. soil, not in India or any other country. He criticised Apple’s growing production in India, despite the U.S. offering the company significant support and incentives.

Apple is gradually shifting production from China to India and aims to produce 25% of its iPhones in India in the coming years, although currently 90% are assembled in China.

Trump emphasised that Apple must expand manufacturing within the U.S. or face heavy tariffs. He also referenced his recent discussions with Tim Cook at the White House on the matter.
