Bangladeshi military official visits NDMA for disaster management talks

ISLAMABAD: Lieutenant General SM Qamar Hassan, the Principal Staff Officer of the Bangladesh Army, visited the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to discuss potential collaboration in disaster management. He was warmly welcomed by Lieutenant General Inam Haider Malik, Chairman of NDMA.
During the visit, the NDMA spokesperson provided a detailed briefing on the National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC) and its scope of capabilities. The delegation was informed about the NEOC’s early warning systems, which not only assist Pakistan in disaster preparedness but could also benefit neighbouring countries in tackling natural calamities.
Emphasizing the importance of bilateral cooperation, the spokesperson highlighted the potential of early warning systems in mitigating the impact of disasters across the region. This collaboration could pave the way for a more coordinated response to natural emergencies and enhance regional disaster resilience.
Lieutenant General SM Qamar Hassan praised the role of the NDMA and commended the proactive approach of the NEOC, recognizing its significance as an effective model for disaster management.
