Body of Retired Colonel Ishaq Qazi Recovered Three Days After Flash Flood Incident

ISLAMABAD— The body of retired Colonel Ishaq Qazi, who was swept away along with his daughter in a flash flood in a private housing society (Phase 5) in Islamabad, has been recovered from the Swan River three days after the incident.

Rescue 1122 teams, using boats, divers, and modern search equipment, located the body near the GT Road Swan Bridge during the third day of search operations. His 25-year-old daughter is still missing, and efforts to find her are ongoing.

The tragic incident occurred on July 22, when heavy rain and a cloudburst hit the capital. Colonel Qazi and his daughter had left their home in a car, which was swept away by floodwaters from a seasonal drain in Phase 5. Video footage from the scene showed the victims calling out for help as the vehicle was overtaken by water.

On the same day, several other vehicles were also reported to have been swept away in areas like Saidpur Village due to torrential rains, causing widespread disruption and risk to life.
