Bushra Bibi Seeks Improved Jail Facilities from Islamabad High Court

ISLAMABAD – Bushra Bibi, the wife of imprisoned former Prime Minister Imran Khan, has approached the Islamabad High Court (IHC) seeking better jail facilities. In her petition, filed through her legal team, Bushra Bibi argues that, as the former first lady who resided in the Prime Minister’s House, she is entitled to enhanced amenities in detention, consistent with her previous standard of living and lifestyle.
The petition highlights that Bushra Bibi had previously requested improved conditions from the authorities at Adiala Jail but claims to have received no response. Her lawyers also pointed out that Imran Khan, who is currently being held at the same facility, is provided with better conditions.
The legal team invoked the Jail Rules of 1978 in the petition, urging the court to direct the relevant authorities to ensure that Bushra Bibi’s legal rights to adequate facilities are upheld.
Named as respondents in the plea are the federal government, the superintendent of Adiala Jail, and the Islamabad chief commissioner. Bushra Bibi’s lawyers are seeking a court order that would ensure she receives the appropriate accommodations according to the law.
This development comes as Imran Khan continues to face legal battles, with Bushra Bibi also seeking a fair and just treatment under the existing regulations.
The IHC is expected to consider the petition in the coming days.
