Chinese firms seek approval to export donkey meat from Pakistan

Author Avatar Web Desk | 4 months ago

Two Chinese companies have formally applied for slaughterhouse and export licences to export donkey meat and bones from Pakistan to China.

According to officials at the Ministry of National Food Security, a comprehensive review of the applications is currently underway. Once all regulatory requirements are fulfilled, the export of donkey meat and by-products to China will be authorised.

Officials confirmed that all exports will be strictly routed through Gwadar, Balochistan, to prevent local market circulation of donkey meat. The move is expected to generate valuable foreign exchange for Pakistan.

Authorities also revealed that an unlicensed foreign national was recently caught running an illegal donkey meat business in Islamabad, and appropriate action has been taken.
