CM Maryam Nawaz Puts Punjab on High Alert Amid Heavy Rainfall Forecast

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has issued urgent directives to the provincial administration and rescue departments to remain on high alert due to forecasts of heavy rain and potential storms across the region.
The orders came after reports emerged of torrential downpours causing waterlogging in low-lying areas of Rawalpindi and other cities. Taking swift notice, the Chief Minister instructed local officials to implement timely and effective measures to address the situation and minimise disruption.
In particular, she ordered emergency drainage operations in flood-prone zones of Rawalpindi to prevent further accumulation of rainwater. She also directed Wasa (Water and Sanitation Agency) teams to be present in the field and fully mobilised to ensure rapid and efficient water drainage.
Stressing the need for a coordinated response, Maryam Nawaz emphasised the protection of public life and property as a top priority. She further directed city administrations across Punjab to take proactive steps and make necessary preparations for expected rainfall in the coming days.
